What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a safe, effective way to rejuvenate the overall health and appearance of your skin. It is a non-invasive, easy, fast, and painless approach to helping your skin stay refreshed and youthful.

It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently ‘shave’ the skin’s surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair/peach fuzz. This hair can trap dirt and oil causing breakouts and a dull complexion.

The process of dermaplaning is one of:

Removing dead skin cells
Minimising old skin scars from acne or sun damage
Smoothing your skin, removing fine hairs

Does it hurt?
No, this treatment uses a blade that moves superficially across the surface of the skin. There is no cutting or breaking of the skin to cause pain or discomfort.

Does the hair grow back thicker?
No, this is not physically possible. The soft, vellus hairs simply grow back in a normal growth cycle exactly the same way.

Is there a risk of cutting the skin?
This is an extremely safe procedure when carried out by a trained professional. The skin is prepared for the treatment and the blade is moved across the skin which is held taut and gently scrapes the skin. The risk of cutting is very minimal.

How often can you perform the treatment?
This treatment can be performed every 3-4 weeks. The treatment removes 2-3 weeks of dead skin cells. The treatment works when the full cycle of skin regeneration is complete.

What skin types/conditions can be treated?
Almost all skin types can be treated, but it is imperative that you give a full medical history before proceeding, as the skin’s condition is an important factor.
